1. When I send a watch in, how long does it take to get an estimate?

2. Is my watch safe at The Watchmaker?

3. What's the best way to send my watch in?

4. I've been told that my watch won't be water-resistant anymore after the watch is opened; will The Watchmaker reseal my watch?

6. How much is shipping, and how do you ship a watch?

7. How much does it cost to have my watch estimated?

1. Normally you will receive a repair estimate in about 7-10 days once your repair is received.  Our estimator looks at all watches needing estimates about once a week.  Many watches will need specific parts, and we need to contact manufacturers and parts distributors for the most up to date parts pricing before we can accurately price out a repair. 2. The Watchmaker is fully alarmed, insured, and all watches, while in the shop, are kept in a safe for your protection. Back To FAQ

3. We recommend sending a watch in via UPS (www.ups.com), Fed Ex (www.fedex.com), or Registered and Insured US mail.(www.usps.com).  Registered and Insured mail is very secure, but slower than other carriers.  Irreplaceable or very high value watches should be sent via REGISTERED AND INSURED US mail. For Fed Ex or UPS,  you can visit your local Kinkos or UPS Store respectively to pack up your watch, if you are unfamiliar with how to ship a watch. You are also invited to call us anytime if you would like help on sending in a watch. 888-852-6968 Back To FAQ

4. The Watchmaker is fully equipped with the latest Swiss technology to check a watch for water-resistance, and to locate leaks in watch cases. We have access to brand sealing parts and stock thousands of others to ensure that any watch capable of being sealed is sealed properly.  The tools that are needed to provide this service represent a substantial investment, and most jewelers and repair shops just don't have the proper tools to service a fine watch. Back To FAQ

5. Once your repair has been estimated, you will be contacted by phone, fax, or email (whichever you prefer) with a repair estimate and an approximate time it will be in the shop.  Should you approve the estimate, we will ask for a credit card which will be charged when the repair ships back to you. You may also opt to send a check for the repairs, however the repair process will not begin until the check has been received.Back To FAQ

6. Return Shipping/Handling is $12-$15 for UPS ground insured.  If your piece is of particularly high value, or if you would like to have the item shipped via overnight, 2nd day, or "signature required" the shipping cost will be higher. Also, we can ship via US MAIL registered and insured upon request. Back To FAQ

7. Most watch repair estimates are free, however in some cases, a significant amount of time and labor is needed to research repair costs.  If this is the case, you will be notified in advance.  If the repair is declined, you are only responsible for return shipping charges.  Back To FAQ
